SMS Consent & Opt-In

How NxtGuest obtains and manages consent for SMS messaging with cleaning professionals.

Two-Layer Consent

NxtGuest uses a two-layer consent process. First, the host obtains verbal consent from the cleaner before adding them. Then, the cleaner confirms via SMS reply before any job messages are sent.

1
Host obtains verbal consent

The host has a direct, existing working relationship with the cleaner — they hire them to clean their rental properties. Before adding the cleaner in the app, the host confirms the cleaner agrees to receive texts. The app displays a consent confirmation the host must acknowledge before proceeding.

2
Intro SMS with opt-in request

After the host adds the cleaner, an introductory SMS is sent immediately. It identifies NxtGuest, names the host who added them, explains the purpose of messages, and includes opt-in (YES), opt-out (STOP), and help (HELP) instructions with frequency and rate disclosures.

3
Cleaner confirms by replying YES

The cleaner must reply YES to explicitly opt in. No job assignments, briefings, or other messages are sent until the cleaner confirms. Replying STOP opts out immediately.

4
Job messages begin

Only after the cleaner replies YES do transactional cleaning coordination messages begin. The cleaner can reply STOP at any time to opt out of all future messages.

Verbal Consent Script

Before adding a cleaner, the host confirms the cleaner has agreed to receive texts. The NxtGuest app displays the following consent confirmation that the host must acknowledge:

Opt-In Message

Immediately after the host adds the cleaner, the following SMS is sent:

NxtGuest

Reply YES to confirm or STOP to opt out.
Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help.

5:02 PM
You're all set! You'll hear from Sarah when there's a turnover coming up.

HELP Response

If the cleaner replies HELP at any time:

NxtGuest coordinates cleaning turnovers via text. Sarah added you. Reply YES to opt in, STOP to opt out. Support: support@nxtguestapp.com

Consent Record

When a host adds a cleaner, NxtGuest records the following:

Opt-In Gate

Job assignment messages are blocked until the cleaner has replied YES. If a host assigns a turnover to a cleaner who has not yet opted in, the assignment is held and the host sees a “Waiting for [Name] to confirm” indicator. Once the cleaner replies YES, held assignments are released and messages flow normally.

If the cleaner does not respond within 48 hours, a single reminder is sent:

NxtGuest
Just checking — did you see Sarah's invite on NxtGuest? Reply YES to get cleaning notifications or STOP to opt out.

No further reminders are sent after this. The cleaner remains in a pending state until they respond.

Message Types

After opting in, cleaners receive only transactional messages related to cleaning coordination:

No marketing, promotional, or advertising messages are ever sent.

Opt-Out

Cleaners can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, no further messages will be sent. Cleaners can also text HELP for assistance or contact support@nxtguestapp.com.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on cleaning activity. On an active cleaning day, a cleaner typically receives 2–10 messages (assignment, briefing, completion prompts). On days without assignments, no messages are sent.

Carrier Information

Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. NxtGuest is compatible with all major US wireless carriers.
